Badflower: Show Review

On Tuesday evening, Badflower played their second ever Little Rock, Ark. headlining show at the Revolution Music Room. With them, came Los Angeles rockers Fencer and New Jersey's own Deal Casino.

I'm not entirely sure what sort of expectations everyone else went into this with, but as someone who has been a regular in the Little Rock weekday music scene for years now, I was expecting maybe 30 people to show up despite just how awesome I know these bands are. Luckily, I was 100% wrong, and this city showed up and out to welcome these three groups with open arms. If the show wasn't sold out, it sure was close to doing so!

Fencer kicked off the night with a spunky set introducing their unique sound to the audience. Transforming the crowd from 0 - 100 real quick, this band charmed everyone with the personality they put into their performance.

Sandwiched right in the middle of the night was Deal Casino, an interesting act out of Jersey that you just have to see for yourself. I mean, they've got a multitalented keyboard player who also has maracas! How cool is that?! I wish more than anything that there were more lights on the stage because he was in the dark from my perspective for the majority of the set.

Badflower took on Little Rock with ease playing an electrifying show that just kept getting more and more amazing as it went on! I've said it so many times, but this band is absolutely one of the most captivating groups out in the scene at the moment. Bassist, Alex Espiritu, is a sight to watch all on his own! I really don't think he knows how to stand still, and I love it. Being the headliner has its perks because they were able to play not one, not even two, but THREE encore songs when the chanting erupted for them causing the crowd to go bananas!

Overall, this is a tour package you just can't miss! If they're coming to a city near you, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket!! Also, pick up some merch while you're there. It helps artists out more than you know!

What Is Punk?

If you look at the Merriam-Webster definition of punk, you would find a motley of things. At Punk Junk Magazine, we believe in punk as a culture: a badass social interpretation built by those who are bold, electric, and unapologetically themselves. In our eyes, a punk is someone who fights for what they want regardless of obstacles or outside forces; they put their hearts and souls into their passions and make their dreams a reality. Being punk means being yourself, despite social norms and peer-pressure; punk is having a sense of awareness, respect for yourself and others, and an open mind. So to that, we say... why be a dreamer when you can be a PUNK!
