Jesse McCartney: Show Review
The Resolution Tour: 1.15.19 @ Marathon Music Works, Nashville TN
We had an INCREDIBLE night in Nashville with Jesse McCartney and his young and talented opener Whitney Woerz!
For starters, lets shine a light as bright as the house lights at Marathon for Whitney! She is an eighteen year old talent that not only brings awareness on topics such as mental illness, but she also enlightens her audience that they are not alone in their experiences with such issues. During a segment of her set when she was engaging with the crowd, she asked for everyone that has had any experiences with mental illnesses such as depression ,either for themselves or someone they knew, to raise the light on their phones. At the end of the engagement she asked for everyone to look around and take in that they are not alone. This moment was truly amazing to see an artist have such a visual display for everyone to see the impact mental illness has on a society and it is great in helping to de-stigmatize mental health as a whole. If you want more information on the organization she works with, Bring Change 2 Mind, you can click here.
On top of this forward thinking, Whitney's performance was really something! She is a live wire that not only has a mini "drum off" but she also has a full string ensemble in her live performance; we stan an artist that experiments with non-traditional touring instruments!
Now listen, before I even get into Jesse's performance... I have to give a precursor that seeing him live was a nostalgic joyride for my little tween heart that I never thought I would ever get to experience so this concert was one for the books! Jesse, especially for Olivia, has been a staple artist that we listened to growing up and seeing him live felt like a moment in which we PEAKED! In all seriousness though, the production crew for this tour put on some of the best imagery I have ever seen and on top of that the lightening in general was amazing! I could appreciate the show from any angle due to how the back screens were set and on top of that the set-list itself POPPED off! From starting the night off with "How Do You Sleep" and "Leavin" to ending the night with the recently released "Wasted" (which is available on all streaming platforms FYI) and the classic "Beautiful Soul." Listening to the crowd sing back to him alone is a reason to see him live. It was beyond something to hear the crowd clearly, and more importantly passionately, sing every lyric.
