MKNLY: EP Review

After their recent single release of " You Can't Stay"  MKNLY North Carolina based band dropped their EP When I'm Lonely this past week and we had a listen. This EP has a wide range musically, but have stayed true to their direct honest lyrics. The record trends to have pop influence while the lyrics still talk about the harder thoughts that come from struggling with PTSD, depression and tough feelings when you are alone or dealing with the concept of loneliness.  Ranging from the mainly pop influenced  "When I'm Lonely", the title track,  to "The Hate" which ranges more on the heavier rock influences. Each track rounds out the EP .

We are so glad we got a listen and if you liked their single "You Can't Stay" at all you will LOVE When I'm Lonely!

My  current favorite is "Should've Been". What will yours be?

What Is Punk?

If you look at the Merriam-Webster definition of punk, you would find a motley of things. At Punk Junk Magazine, we believe in punk as a culture: a badass social interpretation built by those who are bold, electric, and unapologetically themselves. In our eyes, a punk is someone who fights for what they want regardless of obstacles or outside forces; they put their hearts and souls into their passions and make their dreams a reality. Being punk means being yourself, despite social norms and peer-pressure; punk is having a sense of awareness, respect for yourself and others, and an open mind. So to that, we say... why be a dreamer when you can be a PUNK!
